Etherapps Pty. Ltd. / RIFFJAM

Privacy policy

Effective 25 October 2026

Your sessions stay on your device and are not uploaded to us. Google Play handles app distribution and any in-app purchases. We receive information you choose to send for support, and our website host processes information needed to deliver this website.

Who we are

Etherapps Pty. Ltd. publishes the RiffJam Android app and operates the RiffJam website. This policy covers the app (package com.riffjam.app), available on Google Play, and this website. For privacy questions or requests, email info@etherapps.com.au.

Your music and app settings

RiffJam does not require an account with us. It does not request access to your microphone, camera, contacts or device location. We do not include advertising, audience analytics or an automatic crash-reporting service of our own in the app.

RiffJam stores sessions, recorded note and drum events, saved parts, instrument rigs, settings and imported sound packs in the app’s private storage on your device. Recording in RiffJam captures your playing inside the app; it does not record your microphone.

The app does not provide an Etherapps Pty. Ltd. account, cloud session storage or automatic uploads of your music to Etherapps Pty. Ltd. Its current configuration excludes app-private files from Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup. If you send us a file yourself, it is handled as support information.

If you import a session, part, sound pack or backup, Android’s file picker gives the app access to the file you select. RiffJam reads that file and stores the imported content in app-private storage. It does not scan your documents or upload the selected file to us. If you choose a file from a cloud-storage provider in the picker, that provider handles the download under its own privacy policy.

Exporting a session, part, sound, MIDI, MusicXML, WAV or portable backup writes a file to the destination you choose through Android. Those exports are not automatically uploaded to Etherapps. If you choose a cloud provider or share a file through another app, that service handles the transfer under its own terms. Exported files may include the music, names, sounds and library content you selected; share them only with intended recipients. Backups kept outside RiffJam remain there if you uninstall or reset the app.

Google Play and in-app purchases

Google Play Billing handles any in-app purchase and restore requests. The app exchanges product identifiers, purchase tokens and purchase-status information with Google Play to display available purchases, check ownership and acknowledge completed transactions. It verifies Google’s signed purchase record on your device and stores that record, its signature and purchase entitlement locally for offline access. The record may include the product, order identifier, purchase time, token and purchase status. We do not upload this local purchase cache to an Etherapps server.

Google processes purchase and payment information under its own terms and privacy policy. Etherapps Pty. Ltd. does not receive your full payment-card details through the app. Google may make transaction and order information available to the developer for purchase administration and support. Deleting local app data does not delete Google’s purchase records.

Google also handles information associated with distributing and testing the app and operating its services, which may include account, device, service-interaction and diagnostic information. Google may make app quality reports, such as crash and performance reports, available to us through Play Console. Google’s handling depends on its services and your settings and is described in its privacy policy linked above.

Audio diagnostics

RiffJam measures audio performance on your device to manage playback and help investigate glitches. Its diagnostic report contains technical information such as audio settings, buffer sizes, timing and performance counters. The report is kept in memory for the current app run; it is not automatically sent to us.

Choosing “Copy audio diagnostics” puts the report on your Android clipboard. You decide whether to paste it into another app or send it to us. Clipboard copies and any message you send are separate from the app’s in-memory report. If sent to us, the report is handled as support information below.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, the contents of your message, and any name, attachments or diagnostic details you choose to share. We use these to respond, troubleshoot problems, handle purchase enquiries and maintain necessary support records. Please send only information relevant to your request.

Support correspondence is handled through our email service. We do not add support contacts to a marketing list or sell their personal information.

Using this website

The website does not include advertising pixels, audience analytics, account registration or an email signup form. Fonts, images, video and audio are served with the site. Video and audio are requested when you interact with their players; they do not play automatically.

We use Render for website hosting and delivery. Render and its infrastructure providers process ordinary request information, such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps and browser information, to deliver pages, maintain reliability and protect against abuse. They may retain operational or security logs under their service policies. See Render’s privacy policy.

We do not set advertising or analytics cookies in the site code. The hosting platform may use essential security or access cookies. Following a Google Play link or sending email involves those services and their own privacy practices.

Sharing and overseas processing

We use service providers for website delivery, email and app purchases. Information may be processed outside Australia where those providers operate, including in the United States and other countries in their networks. We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to respond to a lawful request or protect the security of our services.

We do not sell personal information. The current app contains no advertising SDK or third-party audience analytics SDK.

Retention and deletion

Local sessions and settings remain on your device until you remove them, clear RiffJam’s app storage, or uninstall the app. To erase all app data, open RiffJam’s Settings and choose “Factory reset · Clear all data”, then confirm “Erase all data”. You can also clear storage in Android’s app settings. This removes local sessions, saved parts, custom rigs, imported sound packs, preferences, caches and locally stored purchase records. Files you keep outside the app and Google’s purchase records are not deleted. Etherapps Pty. Ltd. cannot recover your music from a cloud copy.

We retain support information for as long as reasonably needed to deal with the enquiry, resolve disputes and meet applicable record-keeping obligations, then delete or de-identify it. Provider-held logs and Google Play records follow those providers’ retention practices. We do not promise a fixed deletion period for records outside our control.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can manage local data through RiffJam and Android’s app settings. You can contact info@etherapps.com.au to request access, correction or deletion of personal information Etherapps Pty. Ltd. holds, or to raise a privacy complaint. We may need enough information to verify and respond to the request. Legal retention requirements may limit deletion.

If an Australian privacy matter remains unresolved, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Other rights and complaint options may apply where you live.

Security and changes

Local app files use Android’s app-private storage to restrict access by other ordinary apps. Google Play handles its purchase communications, and this website uses HTTPS. Avoid sending passwords or full payment-card details in support messages. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. This policy will be updated if the app, website or our practices change; the effective date above identifies the current version.
