Import, export, and share work
Editable RiffJam files
Use the export action for the item you want to move. Native sessions use .riffjam, sound rigs .rjrig, parts .rjpart, and sound packs .rjpack. These preserve RiffJam-specific information; a rendered audio file cannot replace them as an editable backup.
Audio export
On Session Home, choose Export > Rendered audio (.wav). WAV renders the current mix for one session cycle, without the metronome or an extra release tail. Wait for rendering to finish, or choose Cancel during preparation. Save through the Android document picker. WAV shares the sound of bends, automation, and expressive instruments.
Import
Settings > Import file or backup opens the system file picker. Choose a supported file and review the import summary before Restore. Existing work stays in place; conflicting sessions, parts, and sounds are added as copies. A backed-up current session appears under Recovery drafts.
Current limits
The tab screen does not export PDF or text tab. Do not rely on a generic note export to preserve every sound and expression detail; use the native session for editing and WAV for audio. File availability and sharing destinations depend on the Android apps and storage providers installed on your device.
MIDI and MusicXML
Export > MIDI notes (.mid) or MusicXML score (.musicxml) exports recorded notes and drum hits for one session cycle. Short instrument loops repeat to fill that cycle. Pitches are rounded to semitones. Bends, slides, articulation, choke, effects, and sample sounds are not preserved. These are note interchange formats, not full RiffJam backups; keep a .riffjam file for editing.
Recovery JSON
Export > Recovery JSON (.json) preserves oversized session data for repair. It cannot be imported directly and does not contain sound packs. For ordinary transfer, use RiffJam session (.riffjam); for a library backup, use Export backup in Settings.
